One of the best parts of traveling is enjoying the new restaurants you encounter while discovering a city. Without a doubt, no one should visit Savannah without eating at the landmark The Lady & Sons! Made famous by the beloved Paula Deen, you shouldn’t sit down unless you’re hungry enough to sample all of her offerings.

The southern buffet is exceptionally good: fried chicken, sausage and onions, spaghetti, green beans, butter beans, yams, black-eyed peas, and cheese biscuits. If you have room after that, enjoy the peach cobbler and banana pudding.

Paula Deen has become such a celebrity that you can now enjoy a tour to learn all about her life and restaurant business.

Beautiful Savannah

There are many beautiful cities in the United States, but none of them can compare to the charm of the historic district of Savannah, Georgia! When my husband and I visited Savannah for the first time, we wondered why we hadn’t discovered this Southern gem years ago.

Without a doubt, the best way to introduce yourself to Savannah is on the Savannah Trolley Tour. My advice is to hop on the trolley and ride the complete loop. Not only will you learn a lot about the history of the city; you will have a better idea of where you want to hop on and hop off on the second loop. We had a hard time deciding which of the squares is prettiest – they each have their own individual appeal.

Be sure to take your camera because you’ll never see architecture as beautiful. I was fascinated with the vines that grow out of the sidewalks, covering the walls of the multi-storied mansions. Mercer House and its infamous past are a must-see, as well as the Juliette Gordon Low House. Every corner has a story to tell; every building has a history to share.
